• SPORT TOURISM: CYCLETOURISM: In year 2004, the Regional Tourism Ministry, through the Toursim Strategy Institute of the Balearic Islands (INESTUR) started an ambitious project headed to improve the sport offer for tourism in our community: the creation of a cycletourism net along the whole of all the islands of the Balearic archipelago. This initiative comes up from the need to cover the recent demand for cycling activities linked to entertainment and sports, and implies the adaptation of facilities for the development of such activities, in all its modalities. The cycletourism net of the Balearic Islands is based upon the use of public local paths and unimportant roads with not much transit, correctly signalled with its own signs. These paths and roads have been adapted for this sport according to its interest and its landscape value.
• SPORT TOURISM: TREKKING: Inestur has started a trekking project based upon walks and walking trips around the public fincas belonging to the Balearic Islands Government. These routes last between two to four hours, with different levels of difficulty, where both, tourist and resident, will discover some of the most privileged landscapes of the Balearic geography as well as the cultural and ethnological heritage of the places visited. This project will first be developed in the island of Majorca, aiming to expand eventually to the other islands of the Balearic archipelago. The user of this product will have a card for each trip available, with a map of the route and all the information needed.
• EQUESTRIAN TOURISM: Inestur has also started an equestrian tourism project based upon riding routes along public paths adapted for such use. These routes are located in beaches, forests and natural parks, through which, both the tourist and the resident, will discover some of the most privileged landscapes of the Balearic geography as well as the cultural and ethnological heritage of the places visited. This project will first be developed in the island of Majorca, aiming to expand eventually to the other islands of the Balearic archipelago.
• CULTURAL TOURISM: GUIDED TOURS: The Government of the Balearic Islands, aiming to promote the cultural tourism in the islands, has prepared, from the Regional Tourism Ministry, a group of cultural guided tours to get to know the historical and cultural heritage of the Balearic Islands. Guided by tourism interpreters guides, they last about two hours. Visits are held all yearlong, the trips are guaranteed and regularly organized in Spanish, Catalan, English and German.
• TOURISM FOR ALL: Guided tours for deaf people and the hard of hearing: Aiming to make accessible the cultural offer of the Balearic Islands to everybody, the Tourism Strategy Institute, INESTUR, has started a program of cultural tourism called Tourism for All. This is a new initiative that targets to make the culture accessible to all the handicapped people.
• CULTURAL TOURISM: GUIDED TOURS BASED UPON AUDIO GUIDE SYSTEMS IN THE ISLAND OF MENORCA: The creation of guided tours based upon audio guide systems in the island of Menorca is a product focused on the tourists who visit the island on their own, without organized groups, nor local guides. Aimed for tourists who want to enjoy their freedom and independence to follow their routes without timetables and fixed itineraries. This service is available in five languages at the moment and increasing according to demand. Audio guides are thought for open spaces and offered through an MP3 player that you can rent for 24 or 48 hours, making of the island of Menorca a huge museum to visit. The audio guide comes with an unfolding leaflet, visually rich, with a map and a directory of the routes as well as complementary information about the principal monuments, entertainment offers and telephones of interest.
• CULTURAL TOURISM: TRAVEL NOTES: Travel Notes is a new tourist product consisting of various different routes presented as a guide. These routes enable you to get closer to the essence of the natural and cultural heritage of the Balearic Islands, showing the most valued elements of the cultural heritage, promoting trekking and cycling as complementary options to the traditional sun and beach. All this, in order to favour the deseasonalization, diversifying the offer of the islands according to the resources of each one and integrating nature, heritage and environment as basic elements of the tourist offer of the Balearic islands. Travel Notes focuses on determined zones of the island and its index is divided into three big sectors: historical cultural tours, landscape tours and cycletourism tours.
• COASTAL CLEANING: INESTUR, in collaboration with the Regional Environment Ministry, started in 2004 a cleaning campaign of the coastal waters of the Balearic Islands. The cleaning takes place from June to September, coinciding with the biggest flow of tourists. This service improves the quality of the bathing waters and promotes a greater sensibilization among users towards the natural environment and the problems caused by overcrowding and improper use.
• SON REAL:
o Refurbishment of the existing building (Sestadors) in the finca Son Real, with a built surface of 681,28 m2.
o Rehabilitation of existing house (Can Peloni) in the finca Son Real.
o Conditioning of the paths to Illa des Porros and various routes.
o Refurbishment of the existing building Casa des Senyors in the finca Son Real.
• LOGISTIC HEADQAURTERS: Consolidation, rehabilitation and change of use of the Old Logistic Headquarter in Palma.
• CAN PORTMANY: Refurbishment of Can Portmany. The finca object of this project belongs to INESTUR. This plot is located in the old road Ibiza-Sant Antoni, in Sant Rafel de sa Creu, in the municipal district of Sant Antoni de Portmany. The target of this refurbishment is to recover this catalogued property in order to use it as a cultural centre.
• SA COMA D'EN VIDAL: Refurbishment of the existing building destined to be a shelter (Sa Coma d'en Vidal). Refurbishment of the existing building in Sa Coma d'en Vidal, in the municipal district of Estellencs. This refurbishment aims to adapt the building for public use as mountain shelter, improving the quality of the routes surrounding it with aiming to promote this kind of tourist activities in Majorca.
• Purchase and execution Entertainment Area Terrain Cala Canutells (Mahon): Purchase of the terrain that gives access to the only beach of Cala Canutells (it is the only access due to the buildings in the remaining land).
• Purchase and rehabilitation of Pati de sa Lluna: Purchase of historical building in advanced estate of degradation. This building has been catalogued as of cultural interest and is located in the historical centre of Alaior.
• Palacio de Congresos S.A.: INESTUR took place during 2004 in the constitution of the society Palau de Congresos de Palma S.A.. Such participation arises to 50% of the social capital. Promotion, construction and management of the Palacio de Congresos of Palma de Mallorca, as well as the complementary services needed for a better use of the resources.
• CAN SERRA: Consolidation of supporting walls in Can Serra. This is a cluster of buildings from different periods: medieval lordly house and residential building from the late 19th century, declared of cultural interest in 1992. It is also included in the Catalogue of protection of buildings and elements of artistic, architectonical and landscape interest of Palma.
• CASA D'ES RECTOR: Rehabilitation of Casa del Rector of the church of Sant Francesc de s'Estany to become an interpretation centre of the nature in the reserve of Ses Salines.
• CAS CATALÀ: Elimination of architectonical barriers and beach access.
• PLAN D: The decree 13/2004, of the 6th of February, regulates the participation of the Government of the Balearic Islands in the financing of projects destined to stop tourist seasonalization. Projects:
